Whenever you register for a class or workshop online, you'll be prompted to create a user account during the registration process. The information you provide there can then be used to log in here.

- Create your username and password during the registration process
- Check your email (Don't see it in your inbox? Check your junk/spam folder and mark it as not junk/spam)
- Click on the activation link in the email and... Voila! You're good to go!

We offer a variety of educational programs which include workshops, ongoing classes, Art by Appointment, Open Studio Packages, field trips, demonstrations, community classes, and clubs - designed to meet the needs of artists of all skill levels.

Refund Policy (Please Read!)
50% of your tuition payment is a non-refundable deposit. In the event that a student requests cancellation prior to 45 days of class/workshop commencement, he/she will be offered a course transfer or refund of 50% of the tuition payment. If a student cancels within 45 days prior to the first day of class, no refund will be made. The Bascom reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum enrollment, and full refunds will be issued.

15th Annual Fall Pottery Show
Now in its fifteenth year, The Bascom’s seasonal pottery show highlights the skill and creativity of our Studio Members, whose work is created and fired on-site in our ceramic studio. This summer’s installment invites visitors to explore a diverse selection of handmade functional and sculptural pieces while directly supporting the artists who make them.
iPhone Artistry : Mastering Photography Through Your Lens with Gwen Greenglass
Your iPhone camera is your window to the world. Learn how to unlock its full potential, including the addition of various photography apps. We will focus on Photography skills such as impact, composition, lighting, storytelling, artistry and more that will take your images to the next level. The course includes both classroom time and taking photographs on-location in Highlands, NC.
Your instructor, Professional Fine Art Nature and Portrait Photographer Gwen Greenglass, will guide you in applying these skills to your favorite style of photography.
Resident Artist Series: Raku
In this 5 day Raku firing class, students need to have bisque pots ready to fire. Pots need to be made in advance so that we can spend class time glazing and firing. Students need to think about having 10-15 small to medium size pots to fire. No pots bigger than 12 inches in any direction. There is no Open Studio after class.
All Ages Pottery: Wizard Hat Luminary
Finding Your Voice Through Altered Ceramic Forms with Judy Brater
This hands-on workshop begins with a simple bowl or cone form. Students will explore techniques to alter the shape and surface. By creating free - form pieces, we will refine the shapes with sculptural embellishments. This class is designed to expand each student’s decorative skills while having fun at the same time. Students should bring their creative energy, and their favorite carving and texturing tools. The instructor will provide a variety of hump molds and cones to begin our project and finish with interesting and exciting pieces that reflect each student’s personality.
The Abstracted Landscape with Larry Moore

This immersive four-day workshop at The Bascom invites artists to explore the fundamental principles of design while discovering their own authentic creative voice. Rather than prescribing a single style, Larry Moore offers a flexible process that allows participants to choose their own level of abstraction—from representational interpretations to fully abstract compositions.
Intro to Watercolor II: Washes with Ease
Artists will have the opportunity to try their hand at watercolor, learning a variety of Watercolor Washes. Guided by your experienced instructor, Caryn Raming, this workshop is perfect for those who haven’t tried watercolor in a while, or those who are brand new to the medium!
All Materials are provided – just bring your willingness to learn. Come ready to paint, explore, and grow your skills in a supportive, creative environment.
Intro to Watercolor III: Practicing Skills
Expand your watercolor confidence in this hands-on workshop designed for adults with beginner-level experience. Guided by your experienced instructor, Caryn Raming, you'll use your foundational knowledge of strokes and washes to create watercolor paintings. This session is perfect if you've painted in watercolor before and are ready to strengthen your technique through practice and guidance.
All materials will be provided—just bring your favorite brushes, paints, or tools, and a willingness to learn. Come ready to paint, explore, and grow your skills in a supportive, creative environment.
The Landscape Reimagined Using Oil and Cold Wax with Cath Connolly Hudson

This workshop invites you to move beyond literal representation and explore abstraction as a way of seeing, interpreting, and responding to the landscape. Using cold wax with oils you will learn to build texture, depth and luminosity to your work. This engaging workshop will allow you to expand and explore new ways of creative expression and mark making.
