More Creative Opportunities
The Resident Artist Series in Clay is a program designed for students of all levels. Topics change monthly involving both wheel throwing and hand building techniques.Class tuition includes one 25lb bag of clay, Open Studio for the 2 weeks of class (excluding weekends), glazing, and firing for projects made during class. Resident Artist Series: Raku
In this 5 day Raku firing class, students need to have bisque pots ready to fire. Pots need to be made in advance so that we can spend class time glazing and firing. Students need to think about having 10-15 small to medium size pots to fire. No pots bigger than 12 inches in any direction. There is no Open Studio after class.
All Ages Pottery: Extruder Creatures
Come try out a new pottery tool! Use the extruder as the jumping off point for making an imaginary creature. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.
Suitable for ages 6 and up.
Resident Artist Series: Glazing Class
Resident Artist Series: Wheel Throwing III
In this 5 day wheel throwing class, we will focus on making tableware such as plates, small and large bowls, candle holders, salt and pepper shakers, pitchers, etc. This class includes Open Studio only on the day of class. All Ages Pottery: Toad Houses
Resident Artist Series: Molds for Clay
In this 4 day mold making class, we will explore and create different types of clay molds and texture molds. The focus will be on making the molds and testing the molds for accuracy and ability to use in your studio practice. This class includes Open Studio only on the day of class. There is no glazing component to this class.
All Ages Pottery: Empty Bowls
Come help us make bowls for the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, which supports the International Friendship Center and the Highlands Food Pantry. You will make a bowl to donate and one to keep for yourself. Student work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.
Suitable for ages 6 and up.

Resident Artist Series: Wheel Throwing I
In this 5 day wheel throwing class, we will cover the basics of working on the potter’s wheel. If you have never tried this before, please expect some difficulty in the initial stages. The focus will be to learn centering and then to pull shapes such as bowls (ex. berry bowls, soup bowls, colander, cereal bowls, etc) and cylinders (ex. Mugs, tumblers, sippers – based on the learning curve). This class includes Open Studio access only on the day of class. There will not be a glazing component to this class.
