Youth Classes & Workshops

Celebrate the colors and textures of summer while exploring monoprinting techniques in a fun, hands-on workshop. Using flowers, leaves, and other garden materials, students will learn the basics of gelli plate printmaking and experiment with printing on one of The Bascom’s presses.

This beginner-friendly class requires no prior experience and results in vibrant prints that can be enjoyed on their own or used as inspiration for future art projects.

Ages 7-12

The Bascom invites young artists to work with instructor Caryn Raming as they explore the art of still life. Students will observe everyday objects and experiment with composition, color, and texture to create thoughtful and imaginative artworks in a variety of mediums.

Bring a lunch or snack, and get ready to CREATE!

Ages 7–12

Try out making pottery on the wheel. Students will practice the basics of learning to center and throwing small bowls, cups and plates. Work will be fired and glazed after the class and be available for pickup or shipping three weeks after class ends.

Suitable for ages 10-18

Learn to make pinch pots and turn them into an animal, real or imaginary. Students can bring a stuffed animal or picture from home to use for reference if desired.  Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class

Ages:

6 and up 

Learn about making and decorating techniques from ancient pottery traditions. Students will glaze their pottery on the last day of class and work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Make all kinds of clay pumpkins and help us get ready for the Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt. Students will glaze their pottery on the last day of class and work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Use the slab roller to make a clay pumpkin to keep and some tiny ones to share for our Annual Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Suitable for ages 6 and up. 

Young artists will explore color, texture, and layering as they create vibrant collages inspired by the bold shapes and beauty of dahlias.
