Artist Statement
The evolution of my interest in art was on hold for many years while I pursued a career in finance and accounting. I worked as a self-employed CPA specializing in taxation. I am a graduate of Furman University; I grew up and have a home in Greenville, SC. Now, I live mostly in Highlands, NC.
Once I was able to slow down I discovered and was drawn to ceramic art. I enjoy the feel of clay; and my work is influenced by nature and my surroundings in these beautiful mountains. Nature can inspire and generate many positive emotions such as calmness, joy, and even whimsy. My work shows this range from classic, organic vases to fanciful homes for birds.
I have participated in many workshops at the Bascom; at John C. Campbell Folk School and numerous member shows including The Bascom and Greenville Center for Creative Arts. I have participated as an invited vendor at the Joy Garden Tour and the Cashiers Historical Society Showhouse. I am a member of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild; in addition, I am a member of the Highlands Art Guild and participate in the summer and fall pottery shows.
