Artist Statement
In this work I am investigating the intimacy of jewelry and its ability to facilitate interactions between the maker and wearer and viewer. I am fascinated by the idea that the jewelry I make has the potential to facilitate an interaction, no matter how small, that becomes valuable by the lives intersecting at that moment.
My practice begins by closely examining abundant and commonplace natural objects, looking for details to form the basis of a fabricated wire unit with the potential to grow into a form impossible to ignore. My process involves fabricating repetitive units but allows for spontaneous creative exploration as these units are put together.
