Artist Statement
It is not uncommon for one to hear, “It’s just paint!” or “Let go of control!” coming from my mouth as an art teacher. But, as an artist, I sometimes practice what I preach, and sometimes I cling tightly to order and structure. As a trained studio artist and art educator, I find joy in the chaos of creating with every variety of art style and material. I love applying what I know about one material to experiment with another. I may not have an immense body of work at my fingertips, but when I reflect upon my many practices for teaching art to others, I realize that I have some pretty great examples! The goal… Make the World Beautiful!
