Artist Statement
Serving as a lifeguard back in college, I learned how to crochet during thunderstorms when we had to clear the pool. One patron, who brought her grandchildren to swim daily, was always covered in yarn crocheting by the pool in the hot SC heat. She taught me to crochet while waiting out the thunderstorms each afternoon. I love taking simple yarn and making something useful out of it and items that bring a smile or joy to others. I've enjoyed teaching my daughters as well. My oldest, Suzannah, is a crochet expert, and my youngest, Samantha, is learning knitting with her Knitting Circle at school. It's something fun we can do together.
