Artist Bio
After retiring from a career in neuropsychology, Mark Brooks found himself drawn to the quiet, hands-on process of working with wood. What began as a hobby quickly became something deeper: a way to stay curious, keep learning, and construct something tangible. Brooks specializes in end grain cutting boards, pieces meant to be used, not just admired. He enjoys the process as much as the outcome, selecting the wood, arranging the patterns, and watching each board take shape as different grains and colors come together into a single surface that is both durable and beautiful. For Brooks, the connection between his former career and his current craft feels natural. Both are built on structure, pattern, and the way small details come together to form something larger.
