The Bascom is thrilled to announce the addition of Caryn Raming to our staff as Community Engagement Associate, a role central to advancing our commitment to making the visual arts accessible throughout the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau and beyond.
Caryn will lead The Bascom’s Community Outreach program, which brings high-quality arts programming into schools, senior centers, libraries, and public spaces, creating opportunities for creative connection and lifelong learning. Through this initiative, The Bascom reaches thousands of individuals annually, many of whom face limited access to the arts due to geographic, financial, or logistical barriers.
A North Carolina-certified K–12 art educator, Caryn brings nearly 40 years of experience as a teaching artist and studio practitioner. Her artistic practice includes graphite, gold leaf, and stained glass, and her creative expertise extends to set design and scenic painting for educational and community theatre.
Caryn holds a BA in Studio Art with a minor in Interior Design, a BFA and BSED in Art Education, and a City & Guilds of London certification in Decorative Painting. She is widely regarded for her collaborative, people-focused teaching style and her passion for creating inclusive, engaging art experiences for learners of all ages.
