In this 5 day class, we will use the slab roller to create Flower Bricks and Single Stem Dahlia Vases.  We will create templates, roll slabs, use texture pads, rollers, etc and then use the templates to cut the clay pieces to put together for make the shapes.  The class includes Open Studio only on the day of class.  There is no glazing component to this class.  Please see Glazing Class in the Resident Artist Schedule.

In this 5 day wheel throwing class, we will cover the basics of working on the potter’s wheel. If you have never tried this before, please expect some difficulty in the initial stages. The focus will be to learn centering and then to pull shapes such as bowls (ex. berry bowls, soup bowls, colander, cereal bowls, etc) and cylinders (ex. Mugs, tumblers, sippers – based on the learning curve). This class includes Open Studio access only on the day of class. There will not be a glazing component to this class. This class is for students who have bisque pieces ready to glaze.  These pieces could have been made in Open Studio, the Resident Artist Series, Workshops, etc.  

Use the slab roller to make a clay pumpkin to keep and some tiny ones to share for our Annual Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Suitable for ages 6 and up. 

In this 5 day hand building class, we will make objects commonly found on your dinner table using the slab roller and slabs of clay, texture pads, etc.  Objects to be made could be Plates, Bowls, Salt/Pepper Shakers, Candle Sticks, Pitcher, etc.   Templates will be provided for students to use, although students are welcome to create their own.  In an effort to get through as many projects as we can, this class is designed to make examples, not entire plate settings or dinnerware sets.  The class includes Open Studio only on the day of class.  There is no glazing component to this class.  Please see Glazing Class in the Resident Artist Schedule.

 Make a clay pinch pot pumpkin to keep and some tiny ones to share for our Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Get ready for spooky season by creating ghosts using slabs and texture tools. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Suitable for ages 6 and up. 

In this 5 day Raku firing class, students need to have bisque pots ready to fire.  Pots need to be made in advance so that we can spend class time glazing and firing.  Students need to think about having 10-15 small to medium size pots to fire.  No pots bigger than 12 inches in any direction.  There is no Open Studio after class.

Make a wizard hat luminary using clay slabs. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two to three weeks after class.

Suitable for ages 6-18

In this 5 day hand building class, we will create holiday themed clay projects using the slab roller.  Projects include snowmen luminaries, Christmas village luminaries, gnomes, advent wreath/Hanukkah menorah, etc.  Templates will be provided, but students are welcome to create their own.   The class includes Open Studio only on the day of class.  There is no glazing component included in the class.  Please see Glazing Class in the Resident Artist Schedule. 

 Inspired by the classic handprint turkey, make a pinch pot turkey (with your hand as the tail) and turn it into a special holiday vase. Work will be available for pickup or shipping two weeks after class.
