Artist Talk with William Baker

Wililam Baker 1

Join us for a free artist talk with ceramics artist William Baker.

About William

William Baker is an artist and educator and has worked for the last twenty years as a studio potter, kiln builder, and instructor based near Penland, North Carolina. He has been pursuing this passion since he first stumbled into clay while about to leave college. William has focused primarily on refining his clay work and his understanding of the wood and soda firing processes. Current passions include exploring the connection between mind and body, as well as between our studio practice and a mindfulness practice. When not handling clay or bricks, he is often found hiking on a trail, running, playing music, writing poetry, or on a yoga mat. This makes him sound very busy but, if you were to see the process from the outside, it might look like a unexpectedly beautiful conversation you did not know you needed. He has left custom handbuilt pottery kilns throughout the southeast and taught workshops at Penland.
