Meredith Bogardus Skinner moved to Greenville in the late 80s. She followed in her father's footsteps, pursuing a career in advertising. She has worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, and art director for over 30 years.
At the beginning of 2019, Meredith and her husband Dwain established Woodbine Studio &Gallery and took up painting full-time. After nearly 11 months of painting together, the couple opened the doors of Woodbine to the public in participation of MAC’s Open Studios. Tragically, Dwain passed away on November 20th, just days after showing his work for the first time.
Meredith continues to paint and to work towards the couple’s original goal for Woodbine Studio& Gallery, which is to showcase the work of local and regional artists. The studio remains a place to create her own work, as well as a place to teach others the skills she’s learned and loves.
The Dwain Skinner Fellowship was established through the Metropolitan Arts Council to support and promote artists chosen to participate in Open Studios. For more information or to contribute, contact Alice Ratteree at
