Vision Cashiers and The Bascom Collaborate to Unveil Public Art Installations in Cashiers

May 25, 2023 Cashiers, NC - Vision Cashiers, in collaboration with The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts, proudly presents the addition of two new sculptures in the Village core. The sculptures have been sourced through The Bascom's extensive network of emerging artists in the Southeast, in conjunction with their Annual Outdoor Sculpture Program.

On May 24, 2023, Doug McAbee's Albert will be installed at The Boys and Girls Club, while Kyle V. Lusk's Diversion will be installed at Slab Town Plaza. “These sculptures are the first of many in Cashiers which will enhance our outdoor spaces by inspiring an elevated sense of awareness for residents and visitors,” said Barbara Jamison, Public Art Chair of Vision Cashiers. In addition, five more sculptures are available for public viewing on The Bascom's Horst Winkler Sculpture Trail. These works of art will be on display and accessible to the public through April 2024.

Vision Cashiers and The Bascom strongly believe that art within our environment creates an "outdoor classroom" for daily enjoyment. The integration of outdoor art, along with a network of paths and parks, aims to enhance Cashier's unique character.

“The Bascom is thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our Annual Outdoor Sculpture Program in partnership with Vision Cashiers, who have facilitated new opportunities for the public to experience the arts on the Plateau,” said Karin Peterson, Executive Director of The Bascom.
