The Bascom presents our 6th annual juried Member Challenge: PLACE, an exhibit in our Thompson Gallery. As makers and creators, human beings experience the world as both a place given to them and as a place they can mark, shape, and mold. The places that become homes to us offer familiarity, comfort, and even companionship. Join The Bascom in embracing PLACE as our annual theme for 2022.
The Members Challenge is The Bascom's longest running exhibition and provides an important opportunity for Bascom community artists.
About the Juror:
Kate Averett Anderson is an emerging curator and art historian based in Asheville, NC. Through her work with the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, she has curated numerous exhibitions that spark conversation between historic and contemporary works rooted in identity politics, experimentalism, and multi-disciplinarity.
