Photography Resident Artist Classes

The Bascom’s Photography Artist in Residence will instruct students in a variety of helpful techniques for the beginning photographer during convenient Saturday classes throughout the spring season.

Tuition: $125 per class or 

$450 for 4 class package


Class Descriptions 

March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th 


March 9th- Learning Manual settings 

Students will learn the rules of exposure, and how to manipulate the manual controls on their camera to take correctly exposed images. 


March 16th- Basics of Composition 

In this class students will learn all some of the most used rules of composition, and how to apply them in the field. 


March 23rd- Creative techniques 

Students will be able to learn creative in-camera techniques. Some examples are long exposures, silhouettes, and zoom shooting. 


March 30th- Editing 

Students will learn editing basics to transform their photographs into what they envisioned when they captured the image. 


April 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th 


April 6th- Mastering your Camera 

This class will teach students how to gain control of every major function and setting on their camera. Students will learn in-depth knowledge of how to operate their camera, and how to apply that knowledge practically. 


April 13th- Advanced Composition 

Students will learn challenging composition techniques in the field. 


April 20th- Creative Lighting 

Students will learn lighting techniques to make their images pop! Conventional techniques and creative techniques like painting with light, and portrait lighting will be covered. 


April 27th- Intermediate Editing 

 Students will learn intermediate editing techniques that will take their photographs to the next level. Examples are Color balancing, split toning, dodging and burning, and clone stamping.

Refund Policy: The Bascom reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum enrollment and refunds will be made. In the event a student requests cancellation prior to 30 days of class/workshop commencement, he/she will be offered a course transfer or refund, less a $50 processing fee. If a student cancels within 30 days prior to the first day of class, no refund will be made.
