Adult Volunteers We welcome volunteers in a variety of capacities. Here is a description of each of our eight volunteer departments: Gallery Docents - Welcome visitors and conduct tours of the Art Center’s permanent collection, as well as special exhibitions
- Prepare guided tours based on age level and interest of the visitors
- Participate in scheduled training workshops
- Develop presentations for the docent corps on subjects of interest that pertain to the Art Center’s collections
- Continuously develop and refine presentation skills and keep the Art Center experience relevant, informed, and current
Hospitality Volunteers - Depending on each special event: instructions will be given to volunteers
- Hospitality for special events
- Floral arrangements as required
- Send thank you cards as needed
- Design/create posters as needed
Gallery Shop Volunteers - Greet Art Center visitors in a warm, friendly manner
- Comment on attractive features of the merchandise
- Complete sales transaction using sales receipts and charge machine
- Restock shelves and counters under supervision of staff
Clerical Assistants - Assist with mailings
- Filing
- Telephone calls
- Duties vary depending on special projects or events of the gallery
Visitor Services Volunteers - Greet visitors in a warm, friendly manner
- Be prepared to answer questions and assist in special needs, e.g., wheelchairs
- Sell Art Center memberships
- Provide information on Art Center events, including openings, educational classes, lectures, annual Garden Festival, annual Wine and Art Auction, etc.
Library Assistants - Be familiar with the Art Center’s library and its contents
- Assist library users in locating resource materials
- Shelve library materials
- Maintain reading area
Teaching Assistants - Be prepared to assist the instructor by handing out materials, arranging the set-ups, copying hand-outs, etc.
- Be on call to help students who might have special needs
- Make sure refreshments are available
- Attend classes and be alert to what is needed
Movers and Shakers - Build props for exhibitions and other events
- Keep creek free of debris
- Assist in grounds keeping
- Assist in heavy lifting, etc.
- Assist in other indoor and outdoor physical activities to help the Art Center
