The 2nd Outdoor Sculpture Invitational

The Bascom Campus

May 20th 2017 - January 7th 2018

This 2017 season marks The Bascom’s Second Outdoor Sculpture Invitational. With this public art initiative, we invite you to interact with cast iron sculpture in the beautiful setting of our campus and the Margaret and Horst Winkler Sculpture Trail. The curator for this Invitational, George Beasley, has brought in an impressive array of works by artists: Carl Billingsley, Coral Penelope Lambert, Ken Payne, Mary Bates Neubauer, Phil Hutzelman, Tamsie Ringler, and Vaughn Randall

George Beasley was born in Ironton, Ohio in 1943. He achieved a B.F.A degree at the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1968 and a M.F.A. at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1970 at which time he joined the faculty of Georgia State University. In 2007 he was recognized as a “Regent’s Professor of Fine Art by the University System of Georgia and has recently retired as “Regent’s Professor Emeritus.” He exhibits internationally and his work is found in numerous private, corporate, and institutional collections.

Visitors may pick up a copy of our free Trail Guide inside the main building for more information about them. All of the Bascom’s exhibitions are always free of charge, and we hope you’ll visit the rest of our facility while you are here.
