Smith Work
Smith
Enjoy an inspiring four days studying with distinguished Atlanta artist Susan Knight Smith and gain a greater understanding of this favorite subject -- flowers. Smith will guide students first in the studio, then on location, to an understanding of anatomy, shape and massing of floral forms. Simplification and design, value patterns and analysis of masterworks of other artists will all be covered. Studio studies will lead to the plein air experience where special attention will be given to topics like aerial perspective, color harmony and basic principles for working in pastel. This workshop takes place during The Bascom's annual Mountains in Bloom (http://www.mountainsinbloom.com) garden festival that celebrates flowers, gardens and nature on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau.

Smith is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Member of Excellence of the Southeastern Pastel Society, and Member of Excellence of the Atlanta Artists Center. Her work is in over 150 collections in the United States and has appeared in publications including the cover of Art Calendar magazine. Exhibiting in over 50 juried regional, national, and international exhibits, Smith has won numerous awards, at least nine of which have been first place.
