The Art of Plein Air: Pastels or Oil September 7 – 11, 2010
Celebrate the International Plein Air Paint out on September 11, by starting the week with this Plein Air Workshop with Robin (Miltner) Swaby. "It long been the opinion of many well versed artists that painting plein air can do more to increase your visual and interpretive painting repertoire than any other form of painting study," says Swaby. This five-day workshop will allow students to paint a variety of subjects in and around Highlands from scenic mountain vistas, bubbling brooks and waterfalls, and quaint small town details. The workshop will culminate in an impromptu exhibit in The Bascom Barn Studio commemorating the 2010 International Plein Air Paint Out. The unique challenges of painting plein air will be covered with a focus on working conveniently, organized and quickly to capture the ever changing mood of the day. Students can choose to work in either pastels or oils and experience demonstrations and instructions in both media. Exercises to help students work quickly will make the plein air painting experience more enjoyable and successful. Robin Swaby is a member of International Plein Air Painter, teaches workshops regularly both in the US an abroad, and is accomplished in leading her students to sucess well in the outdoor environment. She is best knows for her landscape and mountain vistas in both pastels and oils .She will show you that no subject is too challenging when viewed with the express idea of capturing the important elements that attracted us to the subject. |
