| | The first day of the workshop begins with a demonstration lasting approximately three hours. Students will learn Chatov's morning exercises to strengthen fundamentals of drawing, value, color and composition. The afternoons will be spent discussing the great masters in history while painting from live models. The students will work from a live model all five days.
"During the workshop I walk from canvas to canvas, visiting each student in rounds," Chatov explains. "I paint on the students canvases if needed to demonstrate my technique during instruction. I will do a demonstration painting at the beginning of a three-day workshop and twice during a five-day workshop."
At the end of the workshop, there will be a critique, and students are welcome to bring other work. Please keep the critique to three canvases.
