Deckbar Work
Deckbar

There are a number of devices, insights, and secrets that can be taught and learned to trick the eyes and brain to disregard information about what we see. Deckbar will teach you to see your subject as form - rather than useful, beautiful, or expressive. During this workshop students will be coaxed to seeing form in different terms - then to capture it by seeing it clearly for what it is - then be able to draw it. Line, form, chiaroscuro, depth, composition, and creating art out of simple things will be our goal.

Students will draw the Human Figure Clothed and Nude. Most classes and workshops only teach the nude, which is somtimes not useful in other studio work. Students will do very short (15 second - 2 minute) gestural poses, mid-length poses (10 –20 minutes) , and long poses - 1 hour or more. Deckbar will give demos and explanations, show illustrations, and explain the use of sighting, how to forshorten , or draw the reclining or seated figure in perspective and show easy access to understanding and reaching a higher level of skill and understanding of the figure.
